The charity I am choosing to support for my bat mitzvah is ActionAid. ActionAid is an international charity helping women and girls living in poverty. All over the world women are treated and seen as lesser than men. I feel particularly strongly about period poverty. The lack of appropriate period products can lead to health risks, obstacles in women’s education, and risk the mental and physical well-being of girls. Even in the UK, period pads and menstrual cups are labelled as ‘non-essential, luxury items’ and are subject to sales tax, which I feel is wrong. I hope you, like me, understand the importance of a charity like ActionAid and if you can will choose to donate. Once quarantine is over, I hope to become more involved with ActionAid by doing sponsored events and hopefully volunteering.  Thank you! - Nina
