Story
27 years ago, the wonderful folks at Hospice helped my Mom and me bring my Dad home, so he could die with dignity. He was dying of pancreatic cancer at the age of 54 and his last wish was to be home at the end of his life. Hospice made that possible.
Eleven years later, in 2007, they provided the care we needed at home, so that our precious son could leave this life in his house, surrounded by his family. He had been born with HLHS and Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome. He was given 2-3 days to live once we left the hospital, but we were given a miraculous 4. He lived 12 days total. The grief support and care, throughout his time on this planet and afterwards, helped us through this bittersweet time.
This past year, my mother- in-law fell ill and had to go to a rehab. While in rehab, she developed an illness that she could not overcome, at the age of 89. Hospice came in and provided support and dignity, not only for her, but for my father-in-law Lou, husband Bruce, and me as well.
I am forever grateful to Hospice, i can't even put into words the depth of this gratitude. At the lowest times of my life, Hospice was there to help my loved ones. They are invaluable.
