Story
Alexandra was stillborn at 25 weeks gestation. She was developing perfectly, but the placenta stopped working properly, resulting in a lack of oxygen and nutrients.
We are fortunate in the fact that we know what happened to Alexandra, however we do not know why this happened.1 in 220 babies are Stillborn in the UK. It is extremely important to us, and unfortunately to many more families, that research takes place to find out more about Stillbirths and Placenta problems. The more knowledge we have, the more likely it is that screenings for potential problems can take place, and interventions put in place to help babies to survive.
