Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most people know my story. My Husband was diagnosed with dual cancers in March 2015 and passed away in December the same year, shortly before Christmas. Gary faced so many challenges during his battle with cancer that since 2015 I have wanted to face my own challenges. I'm doing this, not only to fundraise for important causes but to try to have some empathy on what he had to face on a daily basis.
This year, I have decided to challenge myself harder and have signed up to take part in the Macmillan South Downs Hike, walking from Brighton to Eastbourne on Saturday 10th June. For someone who spends most of their working life sat behind a desk and non working time spent sitting on the sofa (usually with glass of wine in hand), this will be a big challenge.
Macmillan are a fantastic charity. Without their initial guidance regarding finances and where to turn to once Gary was diagnosed with Cancer, I don't know how we would have coped. They were there for every step of our journey with Cancer, right down to the final days where I had the personal mobile for the Macmillan Oncology Nurse, should I need to call her at any time of day or night.
I'm hoping my one day of walking will help to raise the much needed funds for Macmillan to continue to offer the amazing work that they do.
Fundraising is hugely important to Macmillan. Without people doing events, running marathons, climbing mountains, and donating in all the other ways that you can, Macmillan wouldn’t exist.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
