On 30th April we celebrate the second anniversary of Tristan's kidney transplant. We would like to thank the tender ministrations of the wonderful Nephrology Team at Alder Hey which guided us through the lead up to the Big Day, the support of the Kidneys for Life Team in Manchester and the technical wizardry of the Surgical and nursing team also in Manchester. We came to know many of the other families at Alder Hey who have been through and are still in preparation for life post transplant; their friendship and resilience is much appreciated. Our own friends and family pulled out all the stops to support us every step of the way.
Having a transplant is only part of the story, to make the most of it (some transplants are now lasting over 40 years!) requires keeping fit and healthy. Tris and I have joined the everlastingly cheerful and upbeat Delamere Parkrunners as a step in the right direction. A Mile A Day for Alder Hey began on April 1st 2017 and will continue for 100 days.
The British Transplant Games takes place in July 2017 in Lanarkshire, it's purpose is to enable each transplantee to re-engage with sport for a healthy, fulfilling and long-lasting post transplant life. All money raised will be donated to the Alder Hey team to ensure all families are able to attend.
Thank you for your donation to longer lasting transplanted kidneys - they're for life!
