On March 25th a motley bunch of first timers, novices, experienced and semi-pro runners will be embarking on the Hastings Half Marathon in memory of Nicky Skinner. As many know Nicky was training for this very same half marathon last year, but sadly did not make it as she passed away on March 1st, from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS).

 

In her memory, a group of us will be be embarking on this run, to raise money for her favourite charity the Dogs Trust. Nicky loved animals, but particluarly her dogs, so much so that she upset many of her friends by comparing her love for Ruby and Mutley, to that of their love for their children. The Dogs Trust was one that she supported on a monthly basis, so its only right to continue to do this in her name.

 

Already we have raised £3,000 for the Dogs Trust in Shoreham, which has resulted in Puppy CCTV being installed. We want to continue the good work in helping a charity that never puts a healthy dog down. It would mean a lot to Nicky, to Gary, and to her family and friends if you could help support this worthwhile charity, and help her memory live on.
