I am doing this challenge as my Dad died of Lymphoma.

I am very proud to say that in September I will be part of a group of 20 Wickes colleagues going to Alaska for 15 days to trek across the Talkeetna mountains in order to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

The Talkeetna mountains are in the Alaskan wilderness, it is totally uninhabited, there are no paths except those made by the Caribou, Bears and Wolves. It is warm in the day but freezing at night and rains a lot of the time. We will be walking carrying a 30kg pack up and down huge mountains, walking for around 8hrs a day and camping at night on the side of the mountain. This is not a package holiday, there are no amenities of any description and we have to carry absolutely everything we need, including our food and tents. 　I am sure that we will have some fun along the way but I am also sure it will be very very hard as just one of the days in Alaska is equivalent to walking all the way up and down Snowdon twice.

I have a very strong motivation to do this as my Dad died of Lymphoma 3 years ago and those of you who know me well will know how much it means to me to do this in his memory, so please, please go to my just giving page and make a donation, even the smallest of which will make a difference to blood cancer patients. 　Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research are the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Their life-saving research is focused on finding causes, improving diagnosis and treatments, and running ground-breaking clinical trials for all blood cancer patients.I know we all receive a lot of requests for donations but I hope you will think that this is something a little bit beyond most challenges and really worth supporting.
