Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Education has always been our major focus as it is a way of breaking the cycle of poverty and enabling children to have the opportunity to escape the circumstances they were born into. (In the past we have built new classrooms, toilets, libraries, funded books as well as providing sanitary towels.)
In December, one of our newer supporters is (hopefully) visiting Kenya and is keen to contribute to New Hope and the wider community whilst he is there. New Hope have set up a school and are desperate for books and stationery so we have agreed to try and raise some much needed funds to equip the school.
As this event is related to books and we want as many people to get involved as possible we have set up a 4 tier challenge.
The Little Book challenge: This involves running 5k and/or cycling for 30 minutes - Suggested donation £5
The Big Book challenge: This involves running 10k and/or cycling for 1 hour - Suggested donation £10
The Encyclopaedia Challenge: This involves running a half marathon and/or cycling for 2 hours - Suggested donation £15
The read a book challenge: Take time out and read a book - Suggested donation £5
This virtual event is scheduled to take place on the weekend of 28th and 29th November.
There are no prizes and it is not a competition. This may be an opportunity to challenge yourself, an excuse to have some quiet time with a book or a good reason to do a socially distanced social run or cycle. (We have set up a Facebook Page and more details will be on there.)
As always, every single penny donated will be spent on the school. (Not a penny goes on admin or overhead fees as we are all volunteers.)
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
