Open Road is a charity, based in East Anglia. Open Road provides services for individuals, families and local communities affected by drugs and alcohol addictions. Working for over 20 years, they have a strong track record of helping people achieve recovery from their addiction, and reintegration into their families and communities. They provide a range of innovative services including group support sessions, counselling, practical help with housing and benefits and support with education training and employment.

One of their innovative outreach services is the Colchester SOS Bus, which supports local emergency services in tackling problem drinking and drug use at weekends. The SOS bus acts as a safe haven in the evening and as an information point for advice and open access services during the week. It relies soley on volunteers, who give up their free time, to staff it.
