Story
Hi all,
Throughout my life, I've witnessed many friends and families suffer from the horrific illness that is cancer. So far I've been fortunate not to lose anyone, and I honestly believe that one of the many reasons for this is the support offered to those going through cancer treatment by organisations such as Beechwood.
When my Mum had cancer in 2013, Beechwood were there providing wellbeing support, which enabled her to focus on her battle. To this day we remain eternally grateful for their support, which helped ensure my Mum is still here 7 years later.
So, that brings me to the challenge. As many of you are aware, I enjoy a lovely pint of room temperature beer. So much so that I may have put on a bit of weight during lockdown. So, as a personal goal to myself and to raise some money for a truly great charity, during the month of October I will be giving up drinking alcohol and running 100km (not in one go).
I will not be counting any hockey or gym sessions to the mileage total. It will be calculated based on road running only. So if you want to follow me, please do so on Strava, where I will be posting my journey.
I guarantee this challenge will make me suffer, so please donate. Even the smallest amount helps in these challenging times.
Best,
Nathan
