The 6th of May 2021 marks ten years since leukaemia stole our beautiful talented Naomi. Everyone is still devastated that she is gone.
The Just Giving page to support PACT originally set up has been closed down. Friends and family still want to support PACT in Naomi’s memory, so this new page is a continuation of the original. £10,280 was raised for PACT through the first page.
NAOMI’S STORY: towards the end of January 2011 Naomi had developed a red petechiae rash on her shins and neck. Her shins also ached and she had developed bruising on her legs, arms and feet. She had been feeling 'out of breath' whilst playing football.

Naomi was immediately diagnosed Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Unfortunately it was resistant to the cycles of high dose chemotherapy, resulting in her needing a mixed race bone marrow donor. Her twin brother was tested, but was not a match. A global search started. They couldn't get Naomi in remission from the leukaemia and she developed a horrendous fatal infection. Weeks later adequate cord blood matches were found in Spain... our girl never got that transplant.

Naomi was left footed and playing for Sheffield United Community Ladies, she started out playing 3 seasons for Derby County (Naomi played in a match 4 days before her diagnosis) Naomi was chosen to train at Sheffield United’s Centre of Excellence, as well being picked for Derbyshire Schools County U16s football team. Naomi was very fit, healthy and competitive , she loved lots of sports and had just learnt to ski. She was about to continue to do A level PE and Biology with her twin Elliot, as well as History and Psychology.

Our gorgeous girl was FULL OF LIFE & ENERGY; always singing, dancing, laughing, joking, doing impressions, playing the guitar..... She was known for her bubbly energy, laughter, strops and kindness to others! Naomi Ella Smith: much loved, talented, beautiful, unassuming young woman

During her treatment, best friends got her year group involved in making three support videos; these showed Naomi how much she was missed.

She has definitely made an impression on everyones hearts; those who knew her, those who heard about her. We continue to be told stories of our amazing girl.
She always will leave that enourmous Naomi shaped hole in everyones life.
