Story
All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the universe. May peace and blessings be upon Muhammad (SAW) and all those who followed him on the path of righteousness.
Assalamu ‘alaykum dear brothers and sisters,
As Ramadan dawns upon us once again, Hafs Academy would like to share some of the achievements, over the past few years, made possible by the support of this community, in hopes of relying on your generosity in aiding this institute during this sacred month. May your assistance to the institute, during their time of struggle, enable you to reap the immense virtues and rewards of this month.
Hafs Academy has designed a robust Hifdh programme that has allowed students to complete the memorisation of the entire Qur’an, alongside their national curriculum studies, by the time they sit for their GCSEs. Students are offered a number of expedited options allowing for completion as early as year 9. With the help of Allah, Hafs Academy has produced more than 20 Huffadh, currently serving in our communities; leading Taraweeh and Jumu’ah prayers. Just during the lockdown period last year, more than 5 students have completed their Hifdh, Alhamdulillah. In addition to this, more than 15 teachers, male and female, have completed advanced Qira’ah courses and have attained Ijazah from the esteemed Qari’ Bashir Ahmad of Madinah.
Due to unfortunate circumstances however, Hafs Academy is undergoing severe financial struggles, which threaten the continued service of the institute. The blessed month of Ramadan is the ideal opportunity for us to not only invest in our hereafter, but also in that of our children. The very children that will, In Sha Allah, become the righteous leaders of this Ummah. This is the legacy we wish to leave behind.
It was the Sunnah of the Messenger (saw) to increase his sadaqah during Ramadan.
Ibn Abbas (ra) said, ‘The Prophet (saw) was the most generous of people, and he was most generous during Ramadan.’ [Bukhari]
Allah (SWT) says in the Qur’an:
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا۟ وَءَاثَٰرَهُمْ. وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ فِىٓ إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ.
“Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have sent before them and their traces they have left behind. And We have taken account of everything in a clear record.” {36:12}
Under the commentary of this verse, Qatadah (ra) has said that even the mere footsteps one takes on their way to the masjid, which are wiped away by the wind, are preserved.
The reward must be incomprehensible, for one’s efforts to generate Huffadh and scholars, who attain proficiency in both fields; academic and Islamic knowledge. Allah (SWT) has promised to never let such efforts go in vain, efforts that preserve the knowledge of our deen for all generations until the Day of Judgement.
Taking all of this into consideration, we humbly and urgently request all of our honourable well-wishers and supporters for their gracious support during the sacred month of Ramadan. Any donation, irrespective of size, will certainly help Hafs Academy to continue producing Huffadh, scholars and role models for the Ummah.
‘The best charity is that given in Ramadhan.’ [Tirmidhi]
‘Charity does not decrease wealth.’ [Sahih Muslim]
‘Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.’ [Tirmidhi]
‘Charity wipes out sins just as water extinguishes fire.’ [Tirmidhi]
We ask Allah to grant us success in our pursuit to raise the standard of Islamic and secular education in Britain, and we thank all those who are graciously supporting us in our endeavour.
Sincere regards,
Najmul Alam,
