Story
Thank you for visiting our tribute page for Anita Green OBE.
Anita joined the NSPCC Barnet & District Branch as a Community Fundraiser and was inspired to do so by the late Stella Ross Collins who was Chairman of the branch at the time.
Within a very short time she had established herself as a brilliant organiser, raising both the Branch's profile and its fundraising totals. This was recognised by the NSPCC and she was invited by the Board of Trustees to take on the post of a Trustee in 1997.
She was then appointed NSPCC Vice-Chairman and eventually Vice President in October 2012 and was awarded the OBE for Services to Children.
Following her retirement as Vice President, Anita, from her home in Scotland, was a major force in convincing the NSPCC to implement a nationwide schools service that reached out to every child in the UK and then became an active volunteer by attending schools personally with the NSPCC Childline Schools Service.
How you can help leave a legacy in Anita's name
Anita was so fundamental in bringing the NSPCC Schools Service to fruition and Anita's family feel it would be a wonderful legacy for money raised from Anita's memorial to help fund our early years prevention work, particularly the under 5's, a critical time prior to little ones receiving the "Speak Out, Stay Safe" assemblies when they start primary school.
Anita's family have the aspiration to raise a minimum of £250,000 and have generously donated so we can begin the roll out of "The Anita Green Early Years Talk PANTS campaign", starting in the Boroughs of North London, where Anita's NSPCC journey began and with your donations, we hope to achieve this.
The campaign's vision is to provide Talk PANTS resources, so parents and parents and professionals can support the delivery of the vital messages of the Underwear rule to children.
During her long service she made very many loving friends who recognised and celebrated her wonderful contribution to the protection of the nation's children and respected her courage during her last illness ... During all this time she had the generous and unstinting support of her husband, Ray. Her Branch friends and colleagues remember her with much love and thanks for the way she inspired us to carry on helping children.
