We are raising £3m to build a 999 cenotaph to honour our NHS and 999 heroes

Story

Colleagues at BT and EE, plus family and friends, are joining together to demonstrate our love and support for our nation’s Emergency Services.

We want to recognise and celebrate the critical work they do to keep us all safe. This recognition also extends to the specialist BT Call Centre colleagues who handle all the UK’s emergency 999 calls, operating 365 days 24/7.

"Thank you for always being there when we need you."

We will be joining the national commemoration of official 999 Day on 9th September 2020, observing a 2-minute silence. As a further mark of respect, we will proudly display our message of thanks on the iconic BT Tower in London.

Through individual charitable giving, we are also supporting the establishment of a National Emergency Services Memorial. The memorial monument, or 999 Cenotaph, is estimated for completion in 2023. The design originally included five figures of various emergency services workers, plus a dog to represent all emergency animals, but will now have a sixth figure of a health worker in full PPE added to reflect the current coronavirus crisis.
