Story
Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends are facing a health crisis, yet it’s rarely talked about. Movember is the leading charity tackling prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention – because the heart breaking statistic is that the leading cause of death of men in the UK between 20 and 49, is by suicide. Let that sink in for a second and then read on.
Our effort to support this cause is the inaugural LeMans 24 hour assault bike race. If you've heard of the famous motor race, this works exactly the same, except we're using a piece of gym equipment rumoured to be patented by Satan himself and has earned the affectionate nick name of the "Ass-hole bike". Here's how it works:
- Teams of 3 "drivers" will keep their "car" moving for 24 hours straight
- Each driver must spend at least 6 hours at the wheel during the challenge, but is capped at 14 hours total and cannot drive more than 4 hours in any 6
- The goal is to drive as far as possible in the time!
Due to gyms being currently closed, we will confirm the event date, but plan on this being soon as possible once we are able to reopen.
We anticipate it's possible to drive 500 miles in the 24 hours, so we're setting our fundraising target at £500 per car. As we get more cars registering, we'll increase the target to match. Movement labs will be donating £1/mile of the distance of the winning car!
We appreciate your help and generosity!
