Story
There are almost 2 million care workers in the UK caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society, including those requiring residential social care and home care. Care Workers spend their careers assisting others, often for little reward, but when circumstances change sometimes it is the carers who need help. The Care Workers Charity was founded in 2009 with the objective of supporting current and former care workers with one-ff crisis grants. it has a simple and admirable vision, "A UK where no care worker face financial hardship alone." In 2018 it awarded over £150,000 in grants to almost 400 workers.
Care Workers are at the forefront of the Covid-19 crisis. If a Care Worker needs to self-isolate or be unable to work because of dealing with other personal impacts of Covid-19, they may fall into desperate need. The Charity has set up a Covid-19 emergency fund to provide financial aid to Care Workers who need help in this unprecedented circumstance.
Barry and Bobby (or Rob as some know him!) have both had first hand experience of the selfless support that Care Workers provide. In the same way there has been an amazing response to supporting the NHS, we want to do our bit to help the (sometimes overlooked) workers in this sector.
Many thanks in advance for your help, which we know will make a real and direct difference to someone's life. And we hope you are/were entertained by the live music stream! :)
