Story
I support Hillside because it has many services that help youth and families. Take the Hillside Work Scholarship program, for example.
This one-of-a-kind program provides a pathway for students to achieve their full potential by establishing a solid connection between each student and their dedicated HWSC Youth Advocate. The program fosters motivation and structure and connects students to supportive services in three key areas, resulting in
extraordinary graduation rates compared to their home districts.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT— By supplementing traditional
classroom learning and receiving tutoring at school or designated locations, students improve in areas they may be struggling. Strong communication between Youth Advocates and teachers ensures that assignments and in-class obligations are met. Together, we can achieve academic success and reach our full potential.
JOB READINESS—HWSC empowers students to achieve their
career aspirations by providing guidance on career objectives, fostering their soft skills, and offering valuable hands-on experience through the Youth Employment Training Academy (YETA). With YETA certification, students unlock opportunities for part-time employment with Employment Partners in the community. Students earn an income and enhance their time management and entry-level workforce abilities, paving the way for a successful future.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT—Through regular check-ins with
student families and other community supports, the YA provide guidance and advice that helps students stay focused and on course.
Won't you please join me in supporting Hillside in its efforts to make a difference for the young people in our community?
