Story
On 27th August 2014, My Grandfather passed away at 84 years old, after a short battle with terminal lung-cancer.
He spent his last few days at Rotherham Hospice, where he received such wonderful, dignified end of life care, and this helped him to have a "good" death. That may seem like a strange thing to say, but because of Rotherham Hospice; he was able to keep his dignity and pride as he passed away peacefully and pain-free in his sleep - the way I hoped he would. I did not want him to suffer a "bad" death - for My Grandfather was also a proud and strong man - and I know he wanted to remain that way, even as he reached the end of his life.
Rotherham Hospice rely heavily on donations to help them to continue to provide this service to those with terminal illness. And as a thank you to them, I would like to raise £1000 to help them to continue to do this.
It costs approximately £500 per day to look after somebody with a terminal illness. £1000 can help look after somebody for two days, providing them with loving and dignified care as they reach the end of their lives. This is turn, can provide a great deal of comfort to their relatives, who are faced with the knowledge that they are losing a loved one, but they are ensuring that loved one is having the best care possible.
If My Grandfather was here; I know he would be overjoyed to make a donation to Rotherham Hospice for the wonderful care they gave him. But he isn't, so instead, I want to do it on his behalf - to show an amazing man, whom I will be forever proud of; that even though he's not with us any more, his memory will live on in the care of others.
Please do consider making a donation to this very important cause, be it because you believe in this much-needed end of life care, or in memory of a relative whom also received this care in their last days. Whether it's a donation of £5 or £50; every single penny will go to Rotherham Hospice in loving memory of My special Grandfather; Les.
Thank you ♥
