Story
The young people of the Mint Methodist Church are really concerned about the effects of climate change, especially on some of the world's poorest people. This Lent we want to show God's love and try to make a difference by taking on individual challenges to raise money for TreeAid.
The young people have chosen different things to do that challenge them individually. These include: a whole family running or walking 40 miles each over the course of Lent; climbing a tall tree (appropriate for TreeAid); walking 3-5 miles a week; skipping with a rope every day of Lent; reading 400000 words (about 5 books), and one of our younger members is doing a 2 mile walk without being carried every week of Lent.
The Young Church leaders are getting involved too. Steve is hoping (COVID restrictions permitting) that he might be able to complete a mini-triathlon (1km swim, 15km bike ride, 5km run) or if the outdoor pools don't open before Easter a biathlon with 25km bike ride and 5km run. Abigail is going to attempt to run 5k. Mikyoung is going to walk 40 miles before Easter and Bron has committed to 15 minutes of exercises a day!
Look out for more challenge updates as we go through Lent.
