After leading a rather 'easy' life up until the age of 17, I lost my dad and began, what is to date, a 4 year struggle with my mental health. It has effected everything, from friendships to my degree, to barely leaving the house for a year. The hardest part, no doubt, has been dealing with the stigma around mental health. Feeling comfortable to be honest about my anxiety and depression, understanding it is legitimately disabling, to the point where it almost cost me my degree.
This is why I am happy to wake up everyday until June 22nd rather terrified, as I plan to jump out of a plane at 10,000ft (strapped to a parachute instructor), for Mind. The goal of Mind is to make sure anyone suffering with their mental health get the support and respect they deserve. I want to raise as much as I can for this charity, not just because of my own experience, but because of how many people I know who struggle with their mental health and either don't get the same support they might for their physical health, or themselves suffer in silence because of the misconception that mental health isn't on par with physical health.
So PLEASE sponsor me to terrify myself for a good cause!
