On 27/8 we are holding a very special event at Liverpool StHelens RUFC to celebrate the amazing rugby life of Mike Slemen.

Mike’s family and friends will attend a lunch along with RFU officials and there will be a veterans rugby match between LSH and a Wooden Spoon Invitational XV captained by Mike’s son David. 

Not only did Mike have a wonderful rugby career but after he retired from playing and coaching he became the Regional President of the Wooden Spoon Charity. It is therefore fitting to raise funds for the Wooden Spoon who continue making a difference in the lives of children with disability and facing disadvantage. Any money raised here will be used in the local Merseyside region and will be added to the money raised on the day.
