Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Starting January 11th, at my own cost, I'll be travelling to Tanzania to work with the International Non-Profit, Mission Rabies, to help eradicate rabies in dogs in Tanzania. I'll be travelling with my good friend and retired Veterinarian, Arnold Plotnick. With a group of 8 volunteers we will be vaccinating both domestic and roaming dogs against Rabies. As well, we will be educating parents and children on rabies prevention in dogs and humans.
Rabies is a prevalent disease in the developing world and kills almost 60,000 children (15 and under) a year. By working in specific areas, for us the Meru District of Tanzania, we seek to vaccinate thousands of dogs, over a two week period, to create herd immunity.
In addition to covering airfare and room and board, Mission Rabies asks volunteers to raise $500 dollars to help support their international programs and raise awareness about Rabies. Donations of any size are much appreciated.
While travelling I will be recording this adventure through blogging, and photographs. You can check out my trip website at: https://www.mike503intanzania.com/.
Thanks for considering this request and Joy to you this Holiday Season!
