Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page & I'd be very grateful if you are able to support the work of The Albion Foundation.

I've been able to witness the incredible achievements of my chosen charity on many occasions & it's always a humbling experience. The Foundation works with the most disadvantaged & disabled, primarily although not exclusively in the Midlands, but has received national & international recognition given the impact of its work.

Since I last raised funds through our Great Wall of China trek in 2018, I have lost both my Dad, John & my brother, David. They both did so much to improve the lives of others; Dad enthusiastically dedicated so much of his time to his chosen charities & David inspired numerous young people as a secondary school teacher. My fund raising efforts will therefore also be in their memory.

Some of the areas of the Foundation's work include:

Transforming the lives of so many with physical &/or mental disabilities through the provision of  facilities, equipment & coaching.

Raising the aspirations & self-esteem of some of our our most disadvantaged children, including the establishment of an OFSTED inspected independent school offering alternative provision for those less suited to mainstream eduction.

Through its Memories Programme, the Foundation has received widespread recognition for its work with these suffering from various forms of dementia.

Not least, the Foundation's response to the pandemic made me feel particularly proud with a programme that tackled food poverty & loneliness amongst the most vulnerable.

There is so much more that I could share with you. The 110 full & part-time staff & 150 volunteers make a real difference to thousands of people every year. There is no funding from the football club (no jokes please!) so I'm aiming to do what I can to help during these difficult times for so many.

Our trek is described as 'challenging', covering remote areas of the Andes at high altitude with camping overnight. I'm self-funding my participation so 100% of the money raised will directly benefit the charity.

Thank you for reading my story & I hope that you can help.
