Story

I chose to Raise funds for Oxford Colon Cancer Trust and raise awareness regarding Colon Cancer due to sadly losing family members and, for those who are fighting it as we speak!

If it was not for my Sister who fought Cancer and almost did not make it, I would never have gone for the Colonoscopy where they found a huge polyp, with doctors saying that within two years it most likely would have been a tumor, and hence why I am trying to raise awareness.

It's known to be a 'Silent Killer' and only shows up symptoms when it's to late. Please make sure you get checked!

After my last half marathon run, I felt like my next challenge would be to try do a full Marathon. Sadly, not long after that my knee started giving me issues with a lot of pain and I eventually got told my running days were over 😕

After a long spell of feeling depressed and putting on 10kg, I took on walking and pulled myself back to my goal weight and now feel it’s time to tick that box, and complete a full marathon.

Thank you for your support and sending my love and Prayers to all!

Oxford Colon Cancer Trust is a very practical charity. Our byline is “making new treatments happen”.

Whilst national high profile charities fund work on how cancer cells go wrong, OCCTOPUS has a more immediate focus.

Originally formed in 2003 it aims to fund practical advances in treatment, education and research in these areas - the 3 “C’s” Colorectal cancer, Colitis and Crohns, and Continence.

We help the colorectal team at the Oxford University Hospitals keep right up to date with and even ahead of advances in tools and techniques.

About the charity

Founded in 2003, Occtopus, or the Oxford Colon Cancer Trust charity, is a leading Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Colorectal Cancer charity. We pioneer new treatments and research for colorectal cancer, colitis and Crohn’s and influence how they are treated across the NHS.
