Let's Transform Cancer Care

We are embarking on a journey to change cancer care for the better, by expanding our services into the heart of the population we serve and progressing even further with the ground-breaking research and therapies we undertake. 

This is huge news for cancer care in our area, so we have launched a £15m charity appeal to ensure we make the most of this unique opportunity to expand and improve cancer services for people from Merseyside, Cheshire and surrounding areas. This will mean;

• A new specialist cancer hospital in the heart of Liverpool.
• Uniting care for blood cancers and solid tumours for the first time in the city.
• Significant investment in our hospital in Wirral.
• Better, safer care for the most unwell cancer patients.
• A huge leap forward for cancer research and clinical trials in our region.

Cancer is now the leading cause of death in the UK, with the current statistics showing that almost half of us will develop the disease over our lifetime; and for many cancers, the incidence and number of deaths are significantly higher in the North West. We know that there is an urgent need for better tests, earlier diagnosis and more effective treatments for our patients, and The New Cancer Hospital Appeal will help us to face this challenge, transforming cancer care in our region. 

With your support, this new hospital alongside our existing network of ten operating sites could mean that Merseyside and Cheshire will become a world-class centre of excellence in cancer, with patients benefitting from the most advanced cancer treatment, facilities and expertise – along with ground-breaking research and ‘first in human’ clinical trials - as close to home as possible.
