Story
Michelle’s family understand that many people have been asking to send flowers or donate to a charity in Michelle’s name.
As Michelle was passionate in supporting children in both her professional and personal life and was always striving to help those who needed a helping hand. The family have chosen the Quarriers Charity ‘Let’s Talk’ Service.
On average, three children in every classroom have a diagnosable mental health condition. This can have a huge impact on their ability to learn, or make friends, creating an attainment gap. Quarriers is taking steps to reduce this gap and their ‘Let’s Talk’ service is unique in their approach to work with primary school children, to improve mental health knowledge and awareness. The initiative takes a whole-school approach, with the long term aim of removing the taboo of talking about mental health and ending the stigma.
Support is also given to children in classrooms, drop-in centres and group and one to one sessions.
The service works with the schools and young people to ensure it is meeting the needs of the children who need their support and care.
