Our Dad/Grandad suffered from terrible back pain in the first lockdown. When the pain became too unbearable, he finally sought medical help. At the time we thought he probably had a slipped disc. We were wrong. Following a series of tests we received life-changing news. His back pain is caused by secondary tumours on his spine. Further tests revealed that Dad/Grandad has lung cancer.
Unfortunately our Dad/Grandad is not alone. Severe delays in detection have been observed across all types of cancer in the UK because of the pandemic and lung cancer is one of the worst affected. Since his diagnosis, Dad/Grandad turned to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation www.roycastle.org for support. The foundation is the only UK lung cancer charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by the disease. Like Roy Castle, our Dad/Grandad has never smoked.
Some of you may remember Roy Castle on “Record Breakers”. We won’t be setting a world record, but hope our personal running challenges will help to raise money for the foundation and the vital research it funds on early cancer detection.
Your donation will help change lives.
Thank you.
