Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My page is to give you the opportunity to donate to The Prostate Cancer Charity.

www.prostate-cancer.org.uk

Prostate cancer is a too common male condition / disease. A number of my friends, including cyclists, have experiencedthe excruciation of this cancer.

My contribution is my coming cycle ride in the Great Tour around the Coast of Britain, from 07/08/2010 to 13/08/2010.

www.thegreattour.org/route

My toatal distance will be 760 Kms (480 miles) over 7days.

For those who know how true it is to enjoy the climbing, my total ascent will be 8062 mtrs (25,684 ft), only 6 X Ben Nevis, by road.

For those of YOU who believe my cycling contribution deserves Charitable support then do make the decision to donate to The Prostate Cancer Charity

My time on The Great Tour with the Great Tour team was positively remarkable.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet all involved.

We, the 'one week onlys', did our best to help out & enjoyed doing it when the day riders joined us on 2 of the days. I tutored a rider named Dave, from the Heinz day rider team, in the better ways to use & change the gears on his bike. It was his 1st attempt at cycling for eons.
As for the Ride it gives a whole new insight of what can be seen, done & achieved by visiting the British Coast in its entirety.
My 1st evening with the team, prior to beginning my week, included the civic reception provided by Ayr town council. It was a good introduction to the positive outlook being given to the Great Tour by many.
SATURDAY 07/08/2010: I started at Ayr, Scotland, with a 1st day journey of 85 miles. It included visiting some of the scenic Scottish Uplands, with some hard climb sections. The destination target for the day was Port Patrick, near Stranraer. It was achieved well and we were cheered by the local people & visitors on our sunny arrival. The accommodation was camping on an interesting quiet local site.
