As you probably know, I work for Ashinaga. We support talented but disadvantaged orphaned students to study at world-class UK universities, develop their skills and ideas, and then return to sub-Saharan Africa in order to enact meaningful change.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on our fundraising for this year, so I'm one of many people coming together under The 2.6 Challenge to try and do a small bit to help fundraise for our students.

I love football and, in a moment of over-confidence which is almost certainly going to lead to humiliation, I've challenged one of our students to see who can do 260 keepie-uppies the quickest.

Given that I've not done more than 50 keepie-uppies, which I did at my stag do, in a decade, I am decidedly not confident. Technically I don't have to do them in one go but, well, I'm almost certainly going to spend hours and hours this weekend attempting to do them consecutively while Nina more sensibly lies in the sun with a book and a g&t.

If you believe in the power of access to education, the power of individuals to make a change, or you just want to see a video of me failing to do 260 keepie-uppies, please make a small donation and share my challenge! I promise to keep going until I manage it and will share the video on twitter etc. Once I do get there I'm going to be nominating at least two other people to take the challenge - if you want to beat my time I'm taking on all comers...

Finally - 100% of the money raised is going to cover student costs. And all donations that you make will be matched by a partner, so for every pound you donate we receive two pounds, or even more if you are a UK tax-payer and are eligible for gift aid.
