My story so far is that we have a regular check up at the BUPA Wellness clinic every year, my wife and I, we don't like it but we've done this for 12 years now and it's a very good discipline.
I booked the appointment last December, the first available appointment was the end of January, that was ok with me. I had had a very stressful time with closing my Lytham shop and generally tough retail trading conditions.
It was an ok appointment, nothing too obvious, all the usual, goods and not so goods. I knew I would have to wait for the blood test results and the general overall appraisal compared to the previous year. These results didn't come until middle of February and it was then I noticed my PSA level had risen quite sharply but the comment made was that it should be looked at again within 3 months but it was still within the guidelines.
My doctor's surgery rang asking me what was I doing about the results of my test, my response was, as soon as I return from our cruise around Brazil, I will speak to my Doctor.
I returned from Brazil a letter was waiting an appointment was made to see the urologist.
I was sent for a biopsy and within 7 days I was diagnosed with cancer cells in prostate.
I asked for a referral to Prof. Noel Clarke at the Christie Hospital, I am now awaiting that appointment.
I have made it a personal challenge to raise money for the Hospital's Prostate Cancer Department.
My first aim is to raise £10,000.00 before I start my treatment so get on the justgiving web site link is
