Story
I was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in April 2011. I began with conventional treatment but have since largely shifted to complementary medicine. I believe patients need both options. That's why I support Yes To Life, which supports cancer patients across all approaches. I love to cycle and really believe exercise and diet have helped me beat the gloomy prognosis so far.
I'm joining The Ride (www.theride.org.uk) as it's raising awareness of diet and exercise in cancer treatment. I'll be cycling the length of Wales, starting in Holyhead at 1300 on 22nd July and ending in Cardiff on the 25th (with a rest day to escape the steepest climbs in Snowdonia!) Altogether I'm aiming to do about 170 miles.
Thanks for your generous support - every £ counts.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Update 8th July: the last month brought setbacks with a decline in health and a kidney infection. I couldn't even haul myslef on to the saddlle to cycle to the ed of the road. That coupled with awful weather has knocked my preparation but today I managed to do 20 miles (my first proper ride for a while) so I feel sure I can at least give it a real crack. Any miles I don't do, I will make up for at a later date in the Devon hills.
