Story
A few months after the birth of my second child I pooed myself on the bus. Without warning. It just happened. And then it happened again.
In November 2019, I underwent a series of tests to learn why my body didn't work the way it used to. I found out that I had had a catastrophic tear that extended into my external and internal sphincters, along with other pelvic floor dysfunction, and my body would never work how it used to again.
I also learned about MASIC, an organisation that seeks to prevent birth injuries through supporting research and educating the medical profession, and to support injured women.
Nobody warns you that having a child can leave you with life-changing injuries.
All of us come into this world through childbirth. The least we owe women is to do what we can to make birth safer.
Please support MASIC's work.
