Darling Instagram followers!

Although I have breast cancer I’ve purposely chosen a cancer research charity because where I go on Sydney Street in SW3 for chemo I see men and women with all types of cancer receiving their treatment and I know what they are all going through. Some of the chemo drugs treat an array of cancers and, for example, my breast cancer drug also treats ovarian cancer so I wouldn’t want to not help those experiencing this alongside me. Cancer truly sucks but with research every type of cancer could have easier solution.

1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed at some point in their lives with cancer. I had always thought this was something that happened to ‘someone else’ and not me  It was the hugest nuclear bomb going off in my family when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and that effect rippled through to my friends  Fear. Panic. Sadness. A living nightmare!

I had no idea what chemo would be like and I started with a really harsh kind that knocked me out for 8 weeks. If I can help anyone improve their experience of the same thing I will and research is what will make that difference  

Going through the physical pain of chemo was life changing but nothing prepared me for the emotional challenges. Making it worse, just when your emotions are literally all over the place you lose your eyebrows and eyelashes... and then I lost my hair. It’s  easy to take that lightly when it isn’t happening to you “don’t worry, it will grow back” I hear,  but it doesn’t help me when I look in the  mirror and I don’t see myself looking back. I can’t bear to see my reflection, so much so I keep  my head covered at all times or find it adds to how overwhelmed I feel about all of this and even the peek under my hat for this photo was hard for me! I’m sure it will become easier with time.  

Whenever I see my oncologist there are new advancements and she has new ideas of the best treatment and solutions so I know first hand how effective the ongoing research is and your donation therefore will make a genuine impact.  

This is a UK charity but countries share their research globally so please don’t be put off if you’re donating from Australia or the US or anywhere!!
