Story
Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by! I work for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust on the Wellbeing Programme – we provide nature-based activities for people struggling with their mental health. As a follow-on for one of my groups, I have secured an allotment plot with the idea that the group can stay together and carry on enjoying the outdoors and supporting each other.
Wild Roots - as we have named ourselves - is separate to the Wellbeing Programme; I'm running it on a voluntary basis (as a Wiltshire Wildlife Trust volunteer) and we're currently not receiving any funding for it. We are starting from zero so need funds to purchase essential tools and equipment. All donations - small or large - will be much appreciated. All donations received will go directly to the Wild Roots project via Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. If you are able to help in other ways too, please let me know. Many thanks! Mel
About the Wellbeing Programme
The Wellbeing Programme provides nature-based activities for people living with mental health issues like anxiety, depression, low mood and stress. Participants get involved in conservation work, wildlife walks and nature-based crafts. Research shows that this type of outdoor activity can be beneficial to both mental and physical wellbeing. The programme has been running since 2008.
About Wiltshire Wildlife Trust
Our vision is a sustainable future for wildlife and people. where the county's rich tapestry of landscapes is full of wildlife valued by everyone and where people enjoy a high quality of life with minimal environmental impact. As threats to the natural world continue to impact on the county's wildlife we believe a bold approach is needed to tackle the causes of nature's decline before its too late. Crucially, we base our work on sound knowledge and evidence and encourage people to explore, experience and enjoy the natural world around them.
