Story
Hi everyone,
This June, I will be leaving the UK for 3 months to work for VSO as part of a DfID funded programme called International Citizen Service, to undertake a community development project in the Ikorodu community in Lagos, Nigeria! This will be a governance focused project and I will be working with a team of UK and Nigerian volunteers, as well as the Women Advocate Research and Documentation Centre to drive active youth involvement, by creating and supporting youth neighbourhood parliaments in Ikorodu. This project will fit into the core objectives and the priority themes relating to youth participation in the National Youth Policy of Nigeria. As well as playing an indispensable role in achieving sustainable human development, the aim of this is to also help the UK Government in its efforts towards meeting the UN Millennium Development Goals.
In order to do this, I have to raise £800 to show my commitment towards this programme. I will be conducting several fundraising events to reach my target of £800 (such as the Live Below the Line challenge - where I will live on £1 a day for 5 days; cake sales; book sales and auctioning off some of my things on eBay - all of which I will update you all on through my social media!) The £800 raised will NOT be going towards the funding of my journey/time overseas.
I would be so grateful for any contributions you could make - as even the smallest amount will go towards making a huge difference in the lives of disadvantaged people and communities and contribute towards the much needed work that needs to be done in some parts of the world. The money will also go towards the future running of the International Citizen Service programme which has allowed 7,000 young people in the UK to fight poverty in the developing world - more details of which you can find on this following link:

Thank you all SO much for all your help and support, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you!
