Were challenging you to bring the mountains and hills of Scotland into your home with our new lockdown friendly step up challenge!

Story

We are hoping to recruit a team of '282 Home Based Hill Heroes' who will 'virtually climb' all 282 Scottish Munros (Mountains over 3000 ft) on Friday May 1st. Each hero will do this by trying to complete the number of steps required to reach the summit of one of the mountains - one hero for each mountain. Steps will be recorded during the day around their home, their stairs, the garden and on their permitted daily 'stay at home' exercise. For example, Ben Lomond will take 6,325 steps to climb. If we can do all 282 Munros 'climbed' in one day - at home - it will be a fantastic achievement - and a staggering 1,863,870 steps in total!!!

In this health crisis, we have a mountain to climb - we need heroes to step up and help us overcome this. The devastating effects of the Coronavirus pandemic means that many vulnerable people in our communities who are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions are isolated, worried, lonely and often frightened and confused. Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland are determined to be there to be there for each and every one of them who needs help, support or advice. However, this increased demand for support comes at the same time as the charities fundraising income has significantly dropped away as our vital fundraising events and activities are postponed or cancelled and our lifeline charity shops are all closed.

If we can get 282 heroes to donate or raise just £10 each on average, then we will be able to answer more and more calls that come in to our Advice Line asking for help and provide more and more support for those who are vulnerable across our communities. Any donation will be hugely appreciated indeed. Please help us 'step up' and overcome the mountain...

(The team will include a number of CHSS staff who want to do our bit to step up to the challenge...)
