Story
I’m memory of my lovely brother in law Wayne RIDGWAY who we sadly lost on 9th October. He was a big character and would light up a room as soon as he walked in with his booming voice and his sense off humour. He tried to fight his demons many times but never managed to get rid of them. If there had been somewhere he could have got the help he really needed it might have made a difference and we would still have him here with us. The family have chosen this charity to have donations sent to instead of flowers as the help we could give this charity could make all the difference to others that are going through what ‘our Wayne’ was going through. Let’s get the donations rolling in memory of a fantastic man who will be missed by all that knew him.
THE HEAD-UP RETREATHead Up is a new UK charity set up by four veterans to help serving and former Forces personnel build a positive mindset and increase their mental resilience. Head Ups vision is to stem the increasing number of suicides within the military community by empowering people to turn things around before their issues have the chance to become life-threatening. They will do this by creating a unique, holistic countryside retreat that removes the existing barriers to getting the right help. Seven-day residential courses will provide personalised mental-health support for serving and retired members from all services of the Armed Forces. They will catch those at risk of falling through the cracks in current provision. By design, the retreat will have a non-militarised atmosphere no triggering Forces paraphernalia, photographs, uniforms or hierarchies. A calm, natural and luxurious environment will help guests feel welcome and valued.
