Archie was a dear friend. He was always popular and had a strong and loyal network around him. While this is true, I felt helpless as what happened was so foreign to me. I had no idea how I could help him or even a notion of how much he may have needed the people around him. 

While he chose his own path, and many more will do the same, I believe that remembering what happened and spreading awareness will better equip someone to positively influence a friend or a stranger struggling at a critical time in their life and urge them to choose a different path. 

The Archie Cruickshank Foundation was an obvious choice and I love the idea of preserving nature, and entwining it with helping people like Archie - he would have been very proud.
