We raise awareness of testicular cancer to encourage self examination and detection

Story

Cancer diagnoses are always bad (trust me, I've had two). But imagine:

  • you’re the breadwinner supporting a family in a lockdown
    economy
  • your partner has lost her job
  • you’re on a 0hrs contract
  • there's a raging pandemic
  • and the chemo has wiped out your immune system

It might feel like the odds are stacked against you.

Last week I spoke to the oncologist who saved my life (twice). I asked her how they were coping during the pandemic and as expected, it's brutal.

On top of the pressures Covid-19 places on the NHS, the lockdown economy means patients now face an impossible choice between following the treatment plan and supporting their families.

I asked her how I could make her life easier, and she said 'find some funds for It's On The Ball' - the local charity (which she helps run) to support testicular cancer patients in need.

So that's what we're doing.

If you can help us get to £2000, Pati and I will gratefully match the first £200.

It's On The Ball is a charity whose aims are to raise awareness of testicular cancer and support patients who are affected. Although testicular cancer is very rare, in many cases it has already spread at the time of diagnosis, but if detected in its early stages 98% of patients can be cured.
