Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm really grateful for any donations regardless of their size.
I am fundraising for the Harry Lownds Memorial Fund. Each year since 2019 it has awarded a scholarship to support a graduate whose personal circumstances might otherwise prevent them from taking up their place on the MSc course in Genetic Manipulation and Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Sussex.
Harry’s family and friends established the Fund following his sudden, unexpected death in February 2019 as a result of suffering Septic Shock.
Harry was in his final semester studying for a BSc in Genetics at Sussex University and had a passionate love for the life sciences. Harry had a particular interest in potential therapeutic applications of modern genetic techniques and hoped to go on to earn a PhD and undertake research into the interplay between genomic disorders and mental health. His family hope that this scholarship will assist someone with similar interests to pursue their academic dreams in ways that will in time benefit wider society.
More information on the scholarship and other efforts to sustain Harry's memory are on the blog www.harrylownds.org
