This June, I’m walking 30 miles to support local autistic people.Autism affects how people experience the world — and while everyone’s different, many autistic people face big challenges with things like communication, independence and being understood. Many autistic people already face massive barriers to education and employment, and with the government’s new cuts to vital benefits the dream of independence for many people across the disability spectrum has been moved even further out of reach. This is one reason it is so important for us as a community to uplift those among us with disabilities. Active prospects work to remove people with autism and learning disabilities from institutional settings, and integrate them into the community in ways that support their individual needs and dreams. Helping create a world where those with disabilities have the individual support to thrive.

As an autistic person myself my mum has always been the biggest disability ally in my life, she has advocated for me throughout my childhood and teen years and has always supported the wider autistic community. That’s why together she and I have decided to walk 30 miles in June to raise money for active prospects. We hope you’ll join us in uplifting the autistic community by donating.
