Story
Mosques are at the heart of every Muslim community around the world and they play a pivotal role in education, daily worship and special occasions. Indeed, the first act of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upon his arrival in Medina was to build a mosque.
"Whoever builds a Mosque for the sake of Allah (SWT), Allah (SWT) will build for him likewise in Paradise"
On Friday 7th August 2020 (18th Dul Ul Hajj), our beloved mother Safina Bi returned to her Lord. Diagnosed at the end of March of this year with a very rare and aggressive cancer, her condition declined rapidly, however our mother’s complete reliance and trust in the Lord Almighty’s plan was truly inspirational. The remembrance of Allah SWT and her extreme gratitude towards His many blessings never left her lips, even on the days when speaking itself was a challenge. Upon learning of her diagnosis, she sought reassurance through our beautiful faith and her numerous recounts of the various trials faced by the different Prophets over time, helped her to put her own trial into perspective. Alhamdullilah this gave her the strength and patience she needed to persevere and endure what each new day had in store for her.
All children will often comment on how wonderful their mother is but Alhamdullilah our mother was amazing and by far our biggest blessing. Our mother had so many great qualities and one of them was how remarkably generous she was. When she gave, she gave with her full heart- whether it was a gift, her love, or her time. Her generosity knew no bounds and she not only gave to her loved ones but was dedicated in giving to those less fortunate than herself. Our mother exuded such radiance, kindness and warmth that those in her presence, (strangers and loved ones alike) felt the sparkling beauty of her soul. Those that ever had the pleasure of being in her company, will attest to the beautiful manner in which she treated everyone, her humble nature, the softness of her heart and the delicacy of her speech were the epitome of her character. She had a knack of making all those around her feel valued and special, right up until the very end.
These are but just some of the qualities that my mum possessed- the list could quite simply go on! Although we would have loved to have had longer with our mother, we are extremely grateful for the time Allah SWT did bless us with. Despite the pain of losing our greatest love, the hidden blessing is that it is a divine reminder to live more fully, love with all your heart, to give more freely and to never forget remembrance of your Lord for any moment could be our last.
Our mother, captured all of our hearts and although death may have caused a temporary separation, the love we feel in our hearts continues to transform our souls. She will forever be our queen.
Kindness and charity transcend the barriers of the grave and In Sha Allah her legacy will live with us. In loving memory of our dear mother, Safina Bi, we wish to build a Masjid as Sadaqah Jariyah in an area where it is most needed, which will In Sha Allah allow our mother’s legacy to live beyond her time on Earth.
The Masjid will In Sha Allah be built in Malawi, and serve over 9 villages and over 1000 people.
