Story
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been a big supporter of the hospice movement since witnessing the tender care they give to the dying and their families.
My beloved Dad died on a busy admissions ward in Ipswich Hospital after a massive stroke. To be fair, the staff tried their best but there was nothing dignified about his death with no space for private grief as we sat at his bedside with only a thin, flapping curtain between us and the hustle and bustle of the ward.
In contrast, a few years later, when my uncle was dying in a London Hospice, I was struck by the compassion the staff had for him and for us sitting at his bedside.
I have been lucky. So far I have not had to visit anyone I love in St Nicholas .. but I know from all I hear from friends and neighbours just what a brilliant place it is.
I celebrated a big birthday this year and reached an age and stage in my life when I really dont need more stuff. I would rather get out and do things. So this walk, with my wonderful walking mates, is my big birthday challenge. Please support me!
