January is Thyroid Awareness month. So I have decided to donate £2 for every run I complete in January (usually 2 or 3 runs per week) to The Thyroid Trust. This relatively new charity works exceptionally hard on behalf of Thyroid patients who often struggle to get accurate diagnosis and treatment for their condition. The Thyroid Trust provides valuable information helping to raise awareness for patients and clinicians. Throughout the year, many interesting events are held with expert speakers.
Patients, the majority of them women, often struggle to be heard.
The Trust enables thyroid patients to have a voice which is invaluable because often, diagnoses are based on outdated guidance and where there have been many recent advances in knowledge about thyroid conditions.
