Every year across the world 287,000 women die in pregnancy and childbirth: that's one mother dying every two minutes, 800 every day. Over 99% of the deaths occur in low income countries. Most of these lives could be saved by relatively simple, inexpensive measures.

Maternity Worldwide has a vision of a world in which all women and their babies can access safe and appropriate childbirth regardless of where they live. Maternity Worldwide works in low income countries to help women and girls access the high quality maternal healthcare they need to be able to give birth safely.

This October I am giving up chocolate! So please sponsor me or donate if you can. Whatever you can give will really help.  For example, £1 could pay for a course of antibiotics to prevent infection following childbirth. £15 could sponsor a safe birth.
