Story
Team Poundie save the lives of dogs who find themselves in the pound with only 7 days to live if they are not claimed. Without your help many dogs would die, sad and alone.
Dogs like Frankie. He was pulled from a pound at the 11th hour and we agreed to foster him for Bruno's Animal Haven. Frank was a delight. Although 11 years old he was very active and loved his walks. He was intelligent, sweet natured, happy and affectionate.
Frank even enjoyed going to the vet which was fortunate because he had to be castrated plus a rotten canine tooth needed to be extracted and three Mast Cell Tumours removed.
Just as Frank was getting over all the prodding and poking he fell ill with what was hoped was pneumonia and another round of veterinary treatment began. He was as brave as ever and his tail still wagged all the time. Unfortunately, the pneumonia was hiding advanced, untreatable lung cancer and within 24hrs of that news we had no option but to say goodbye.
We had been making so many plans to give Frank a happy retirement but in the end there was only just enough time to adopt him so he had his own family and we could bring home his ashes.
There was never a question of whether the treatment could be afforded or whether a single dog was worth the mounting veterinary costs. Frank's treatment cost a lot of money and all of that money was raised by charities coming together, with two very generous donations from Wags and Bones Staffie Rescue Support, and many individuals donating their cash, making items to sell, running auctions and raffles and raising sponsorship by doing things that make them scared!
I do a bit of all those already but want to do everything I can for all the other Frankies out there so they get their chance at a happy ever after and do not die alone, unloved in a pound.
Thank you, AnnX
