Story
A message from the Marlow Christian Aid Group:
Christian Aid Week is not cancelled - it's just different this year!
COVID-19 has meant we've had to cancel or postpone our usual activities during Christian Aid Week - but the need is as great as ever. You can donate through this JustGiving page to help people in poor countries whose livelihoods are threatened by climate change and where health care facilities are inadequate. You can give directly via the main Christian Aid website if you wish, but by giving through this page we'll be able to see the total raised in Marlow.
Droughts are now more frequent and more intense than ever before. Rose, 67, walks for six hours every day from her home in rural Kenya to collect water for her grandchildren. No matter how hard she battles against it, the effects of drought leave her hungry and thirsty. Your gift could help a community like Rose's to build an earth dam to give resilience in times of drought.
The world's poorest countries have the weakest health care systems, and many of the most vulnerable people will be exposed to COVID-19. Christian Aid and its partners already have experience of limiting the spread of infection during the Ebola crisis. They will continue to work with communities living in poverty during the current COVID-19 epidemic. They will be working on the ground to help communities limit the impact of COVID-19. Please pray for them in this vital work and support them by making an online donation.
Last year, collections and events in Marlow (including the concert and sponsored walk) amounted to over £8000. Please donate what you can. For over 70 years Christian Aid has been working with the world's poorest, with people of all faiths and none, standing up for dignity, equality and justice. Let's stand together with our neighbours near and far this Christian Aid Week.
Thank you from the Marlow Christian Aid Group.
