Story

At the minute I cannot think of many good reasons to run a marathon (my legs are rather tired), but helping to raise some money in memory of Diana is certainly one. I have yet to meet a kinder person, and she was universally well liked by everyone that met her. Working in the ‘nut lab’ was certainly more fun when Diana was in, although she did moan about my tea making abilities. She would have probably hated all of this attention, but its testament to her that people still want to honour her memory.

Diana sadly died in Sept 2016 from a rare neurodegenerative disease similar to CJD called Gerstmann–Sträussler–Scheinker syndrome. At present there is no cure, but the MRC Prion Unit at University College London have developed a drug (PRN100) that could potentially help with patient treatment. Diana’s family and friends have set up a foundation in her name (https://www.dianacamidgefoundation.org), and the money raised will help with the development of the drug via the Cure CJD Foundation (https://www.curecjd.org).

Any donations, however small or large, will be greatly appreciated. The marathon is on the 14th April, so get donating!

Ta,

Mark
