This was a charity close to his heart, and one with such a visceral real world impact that he found himself increasingly involved as he became aware of the scale of the issue and simplicity of the solution. One operation at a young age as oppose to a lifetime of hearing, breathing and wider health complications, as well as a plethora of cultural and social stigma. Every three minutes a baby is born with a cleft so I'm sure you can all sympathise with Mark's allegiance.
