Story
I am NOT a natural athlete by any standards! I started running a little over a year ago after a challenge by a friend, and quickly got the running bug and have done a few 10k races since.
But when Mark Lee claimed to be so confident he could beat me in a 10k race that he would wear a sequinned leotard to work for a day if he lost (remember this), I couldn't resist another challenge (there's a theme emerging here). But rather than make it just a personal challenge, we thought it would be a good opportunity to raise money for our UK Korn/Ferry Futurestep charity of choice, Greenhouse, who do great things to inspire and develop underprivileged kids.
I always enter races with two lovely friends; training and racing together has taught me a lot about motivation and teamwork. By that I mean they make me go training when I'm tired or it's raining, make long runs almost enjoyable with great conversations, and encourage me (and sometimes shout at me) on races when I think I've had enough. (Most importantly, they know how to celebrate with me afterwards with a glass or three of bubbly.) So I will be running with them on July the 8th, and they will be shouting "sequinned leotard" at me when I start to flag.
So dig deep and sponsor me (or Mark) please. There's a LOT of professional pride at stake here as well as a very good cause. Thank you!
